Good color is no color. Diamonds are found in a range of colors, from colorless yellow or brown to very rare pinks and blues. The best color in this business is no color. A totally colorless diamond allows a transparent passing of white light to illuminate the diamond and radiate from the center of the diamond outward.
Diamond color is graded on a scale ranging from D (colorless) to Z (strong yellow). This range takes you along the spectrum from the most valuable and precious to a lesser quality diamond. Your price range will determine what color, cut and shape that your diamond will have; D to F being most expensive, and J being less pricey. DiamondTrade does not sell diamonds graded J, except for “fancy” colors.
